My name is Helga Jonsson and I do administrative work for Jonathan and Lena besides my activity as a trekking guide and photographer. I have two 7-year-old twin girls and would like to give you our best tips on what to do with kids in and around Cuglieri when you need a break from beach life!
Playgrounds
Cuglieri has two playgrounds. One is situated in a park in front of the old seminary and is
shady on hot summer days. The other one you will find near the gas station in a more open
environment. If you want to meet other kids the most frequented time is in the evening
between 5 and 8 pm.
There’s also a very nice playground behind the school in Sennariolo, attached to an outdoor
gym.
Then there’s another one down at the park attached to the Santa Caterina beach.

Beaches
The Santa Caterina, S’Archittu, Arco Naturale and Torre del Pozzo beaches are all child
friendly, with facilities nearby.
The Is Arenas beach and Porto Alabe beach should be avoided with small kids. The water
gets deep immediately and there can be dangerous currents.

Eating out
All restaurants here welcome kids. However, if you are looking for food that children are more accustomed too in other countries, you can try Bridge Bar (near the Seminary), which serves simple hamburgers and fries, and you find pizza at Pizzeria Michele (near the gas station).
There’s also take away pizza at Sapori d’Eden on the main street.
Between Santa Caterina and S’Archittu you find our personal favourite, Mamacita Café. It
has a wonderful outdoor patio with a sea view and a playground. They also have a special
menu for kids.

Animals
Near Scano di Montiferro, you find Il Parco degli Ucelli. This is a park with a lot of different
kinds of birds and parrots. They also have goats, deer, and donkeys you can pet. It can
seem closed from outside, but you just need to ring the bell at the entrance and someone will let you in. Within walking distance, you also find the remains of a big prehistoric Nuraghe.

Adventure
There’s an adventure park for families in Nurachi, called Ikarun. Here, you can climb and
compete high up in the trees with safety harnesses. They have different courses for all ages.

Pool Day
If they do not have too many guests, you can get a day pass at the Bella Sardinia camping.
This gives you access to several different playgrounds and a swimming pool with two simple
water slides. For the pool you need a swimming cap, which they sell in the camping shop.

Sardegna in miniatura
It’s a bit far from Cuglieri, but worth the trip! The kids love it. Here you can enjoy train and
boat ride looking at the miniature world, meet exotic animals and scary big dinosaurs or try
out the Nuragic life in their model village.
Nearby you also have the fantastic archaeological site Barumini.

Daycare: Fattoria didattica Marianna Posa
If you need daycare, there’s an educational farm where you can leave your children during
the summer, open mornings 9-13. Booking is necessary.
Archaeology
If your kids are interested in archaeology and prehistoric life, there are three bigger sites not
too far away,
Mini-excursion
Cuglieri Excursions, my trekking company, arranges a mini-trek for families in the Cuglieri
countryside to visit the prehistoric caves of Seruggiu. Once there, they’ll tell you about the
neolithic culture and you can try to make your own pintadera stamp in clay, used by the
Nuragic people to decorate bread.
